The Indian TV Media concentrate only on cities. Rain havoc in Mumbai took most of the time of all TVs, where as the havoc created by the heavy rain in rural parts of country and the consenquial deaths did not draw attention of the media.

That is true all over the world because TV stations are in the city it is easier to report on your neighbors then to travel and get the story on TV after everyone else.

Having 50 people in 1 building is easier to get interviews then just 4 in a small house.

because there is nothing much happening in the villages which can be sensational
