I won a coloring contest when I was four. I won a coloring book and a couple pencils. I was very disappointed in the prize, I'm ashamed to say. I remember Santa (who presented the prize) was REALLY drunk and fighting with someone when I got on stage...because he didn't want to be there.

:(

I won an audio tape for being one of the first 100 people to respond to an advertisement. The tape was funny... Sure better than that coloring book. :)

I got 3rd runner up and Miss Congentiality in an Ugly contest when I was in college, but only because the other 4 contestants were crude obnoxious men dressed in drag, does that count? I think the final take was a 2 liter bottle of pop, $5, and an interesting story to tell my friends and family what I was doing in college.

In college (for machining), a recruiter for one of the best engineering companies in the country showed up one day and gave us all a series of aptitude tests. He said (afterwards) the only way to find out how we did was to put in an application. One day, a week later, my instructor hurried up to me in the parking lot, and asked if I'd put the application in yet. I said I wasn't really inclined to, he said, "But you got the high score! You beat over 600 other people! They want you bad!"

It just so happens my boss pissed me off the next day, and I put in the application and got the job. I handed him my resignation the same day. That's always a good feeling.
