There is a great seal hunt that occurs in canada where baby seals are hacked to death with clubs then dragged across the ice with hooks sometimes still alive, whilst their mother's watch. If mothers are murdered, the offspring are left on their own, and are more or less instantly issued with a death sentence. The seal hunters then skin them to make 'fashionable' (!) fur coats. The other side of this arguement is that the hunters need to make a living. I, personally am appalled at the way in which these animals are savagely slaughtered. THEY ARE INTELLIGENT ANIMALS. The mother's love for their pups is much like a human's. (imagine watching your child murdered then the carcasses tossed to one side like litter, where you are left with them to mourn) What is your view on all this?

I do not disagree with it simply becaus they are cute and cuddly-
These animals are CLUBBED to death and these people do not eat them- they wear them!
Pigs and cows are (usually) killed humanely and do not suffer. I disagree with any suffering animals may endure. Oh and by the way, i'm vegetarian. thankyou pen fifteen for your 'misinformed' answer.

In response to deisel77:
The people of canada who carry this out use this as EXTRA income. They support their families with their enormous fishing trade. this is advertised as their big 'event of the year' (!) They get their income from fishing. Yes, maybe seal hunting brings in extra money, but, they can support their families with the fish market. The main reason this has not been stopped is because the canadian president believes it is these people's tradition, which is true. Somehow i don't think the seals will understand.

Canada has the biggest yet also the most regulated hunt of seals contained in the international. the overall public of seals at the prompt are shot. utilising the hakipik kills the animal immediately or maybe as finished authentic without delay. positive it doesn't look astounding yet have you ever been in a slaughter living house? there are a form of excuses for searching seals a million) there are over 5 million harp seals in Newfoundland. in the journey that they don't look being sustainably hunted they quickly will be culled for inhabitants administration. 2) seal meat is wealthy in omega 3 and six a lot of human beings devour it. purely because your section doesn't delight in it does no longer mean different places do not. In my living house city there are grocery shops you should purchase seal meat. 3) the oil from the seal is rendered in to pills that help human beings deal with their stream and heart issues. 4) contained in the areas the seal hunt employs a lot of human beings which incorporates First countries. If the search ends it is going to result First countries the most. 5) time and time back technological information backs up the seal hunt. it is the animal rights aspect it is produced from shaky ideas. I actual don't have any issue with eating seal meat an similar way someone from Texas or Alberta has no problem eating community pork.

Well I never eat seal before or ever though of them are any other animals as more than just dumb animals. So if humans want to hunt them legal or not is OK by me, I could care less. Why is it that a lot of people care for other animals but could care less about the starving earthlings suffering because of the lack of money, it just don't make a bit of different to me, heck kill all the seal and then move on to some other unwanted animal and someday they will get to the stupidest animal on earth humans.

I completely agree with you, this is something that has to be stopped. By the way, look at what happens to cats and dogs in China, that's just as bad as what happens to these poor seals. I'd never wear any fur clothes and I've been boycotting China as far as possible. Maybe I should do the same with Canadian products.

Seal hunting is fine as long as you are a walrus or a whale or some other type of wildlife that eats seals. Wearing fur is sick.

i think whats really terrible is that many people are so shallow, they can only comprehend the suffering of cute and fluffy animals. i bet you eat hamburgers and dont think twice about....and if you think that's less savage just because it's a more mass murder, do your research.

It's called "culling" & it is barbaric & disgusting.
The cullers themselves should be axed with a pick axe instead of these poor defenceless creatures.
How can these people sleep at night?
People who wear fur deserve to have pots of paint thrown over them (or pints of blood). Ugly people!!

it is a friggin disgrace too, and anyone who takes part in that sort of an existence, should themselves be clubbed, and skinned, and their skin turned into wind protectors for the baby seals.
