Why do you consider it uncivilized to eat with your hands. Here is something for you to consider, 1/3 of the people in the world eat with a Knife, Fork, and Spoon. 1/3 of the people of the world eat with Chop Sticks ( me included ) and 1/3 of the people of the world eat with their hands.
Do you consider that 2/3s of the people of the world are uncivilized because they eat differently than you ? That is called Cultural Bias. Have you ever tried eating Honey with a fork or with Chop Sticks ? Now that is uncivilized !
Pooh is the man ! Let the man eat ! Have fun ! I liked your question.

I think the jars served a utilitarian purpose rather than for want of civility... It's difficult to eat honey out of other apparatus, or straight from the comb. Mm. honey

He's a bear...just a cute little bear; that's pretty civilized sounding. And plus, Pooh doesn't have fingers and such to operate a spoon.

You clearly haven't looked at Pooh very carefully! He doesn't have fingers, just a thumb, and not an opposable one, at that. It's mighty hard to use a spoon when you can't hold one :)

You've got to walk before you can run. Civilization did not happen overnight, and you can't expect a bear to be up on all the finer points of etiquette overnight, either.
