My wireless network is protected with WEP 128. Unfortunately my private pc's Windows XP doesn't seem to be compatible because the maximum protection is 104. Does anyone knows a patch or a solution for this problem?

It's probably not Windows, most likely the adapter you are using does not support 128-bit encryption. If you are using a PCMCIA card on USB adapter, an early one then it probably won't support 128-bit. If that's not the case then I don't have a solution because if you are using Windows XP SP2, all wireless networking is seamless and it support up to 128-bit WEP and WPA encryption as well.

Drop it down to 104 and it would be the router not windows...

I set up many connections with 128 W.E.P everyday...

less than Linux some drivers won't be able to be allotted with the equipment through restrictive licencing practices. There are non-gpl kernels available which contain lots of those. you may opt to position in the only matching your particular kernel. there also are the madwifi drivers, and any incorrect way is to apply the ndiswrapper software. seek for those on the Linux forums. each and every calls for extra documents than there is room for the following.
