There are 4 different measures which are all called "gallon" (confounded different standards in different countries).
Check this site for all the definitions. The 2 main measures are the US gallon and the Imperial gallon. So depends on where you are!

well there's 568ml in a pint and 1000 ml in a litre and theres 8 pints to a gallon(4544 ml) therefore 4.544 ltrs. to a gallon but i'm not sure a gallon s dead on 8 pnts so all that was a bloody waste of time really :)!!

A US dry gallon is 4.404 884 L
Imperial gallon is 4.54609 L (exactly). That is approximately 1.201 US gallons.
