only if they're willing to abide by your rules. teenagers are still children in the eyes of the law, therefore we, as parents are still responsible for raising them. when teenagers are held liable for their wrong doings, then that is when I am willing to give them more freedom.

Teens should be given freedoms based on their maturity and how responsible they are. There are those that cannot appropriately handle the freedoms they have now, so giving them more wouldn't be doing anyone a favor. Others, do fine and could handle more responsibility and more freedom quite well.
But all need to realize that the rules and laws that are out there, and the lack of certain "freedoms" isn't to give teens a hard time, it's for their own good (cliche' as that sounds). Adults do want what's best for teens, they were once teens also...but they also want those teens to be able to grow up to be responsible, intelligent, productive adults.

well, this is a very touchy subject. as a whole, teenagers should not be given more freedom. teenagers should be treated separately. would it be fair is one of your friends got caught drinking at a safe place like a friends home on the weekend even though they were underage and you got punished for it? each person is different. there are teenagers that you can trust to be responsible and honest, and others that are down right mean and not trustworthy. Do you want everyone to be treated the same? So for more freedom, I would have to say it should be considered on a teen-to-teen basis.

It depends on the teenager. If it is a girl, I would recommend that you limit her to group activities until she is 16 years old. Boys are often given more freedom than girls, though that is hard to understand when they are often less mature than the girls.
If your teenager has never given you a reason to doubt their integrity and honesty, slowly loosen the strings. Give them a chance to prove that they will go where they say they are going and will be doing what they say they are doing. It is important for them to learn responsibility.

Well it depends.
It depends with what you mean with freedom, how the situation is now(some parents are way overprotective) and it mostly depends from the teenager. Some teenagers are really responsible and should have more freedom, cause they can handle the responsibility of their actions and know right from wrong and others just can't be trusted with more cause they just can handle it.
Every case should be looked at individually.

yea,i do think teenagers should be give more freedom but only to a certain extent, not to the point where they're going to go out and get drunk and experiment and what not, they should be able to hang out with their friends, but this new found freedom should not be abused,or else it will be taken away, trust me i no.

r u serious... if i am the parents then i will say no.. a big no. at that time of life teenagers are at a very sensitive as well as crucial stage of life. they can turn to the good side and they can turn to bad side too. so more frreedom means bad company and bad habits and ofcourse disobeying parents
