Is there software or programs that allow you to smooth the face to fit with the picture or just automatically work it?

Try Adobe Photoshop. If you want a free software(because you have to pay for Photoshop), you can use Gimp, whic is almost as good as Photoshop, but free. Downloads of Gimp can be found all over the Internet. Check out this site:

The best function to do that is a "smudge" brush with soft edges. Before you use that, "pick" adjacent colors of flesh that are close to correct and paint those on top of the worst of the ragged edge. Then when you smudge (blur can be used too), it will be less work to get the junction smooth. Photoshop and Paint Shop both have tools that can help you do that. You can find advice about combining images on WWW, but ultimately it's practice and experience that will make you good at it. Bear in mind all the tools you have - you may want to alter the tint of the head or body slightly before you try to join them, to bring them closer.

No software will make the adjustments automatically, particularly with regard to the edges. You'll need Photoshop or another good quality raster manipulation program to erase and smooth your rough edges, adjust tonality and sharpness, and scale to the proper fit.
