RED ROCK CANYON: Its about 20 miles West of Las Vegas out Charleston Blvd (you can pick up that street at the north end of the Strip) Its a scenic drive-through park. Go early, not in the heat of the day; there's no shade.

HOOVER DAM: Drive about 30 miles southeast of Vegas and go to Hoover Dam; the National Park Service offers tours there (@ $15.) and its interesting stuff. Go on past Hoover dam to Boulder City and then to Lake Meade for a swim and/or to visit the new casino there. Also, there are tour companies that will take you on a cruise of the river below Hoover Dam. Check the web sites below.

VALLEY OF FIRE STATE PARK: Drive about 35 miles north of Vegas on I-15 and go to Valley of Fire State Park, another scenic park area.

ZION NATION PARK: It’s a long drive (about 2-3 hours), but you can drive North on I-15 to Zion National Park and back in one day.

DEATH VALLEY: If you like to visit National Parks, drive about an hour and a half south of Vegas on I-15 and take RT-127 to Death Valley National Park (total drive may be 3 hrs each way).

We have actually driven over to California for the day and went to Tiajuana, Mexico. Its a long drive, about 6 hours each way.

Either Death Valley or Zion. if your'e planning on doing any hiking in Zion Bryce is a bit of a stretch for a day trip.
I think that the choice comes down to the heat. If you want to stay in the heat or possibly hotter go to Death Valley a beautiful and unworldy place
take US 95 N out of town to Amorgossa Valley
make a left and follow signs for Furnace Creek Death Valley
on the way back take the two lane park road going south past Badwater
at the jct of sr 127 make a right onto Baker CA and I-15N and back to Vegas
There is a really great Burger joint in Baker it's owned by a couple of crazy Greeks and if you're in the area stop in.
Zion on the other hand is at a much higher elevation and therefore a lot cooler. It's a spectacular park and the up hill run through the tunnels is worth the price of admission.
I-15 N through the Virgin River Gorge - spectacular
exit utah rt 9 Hurricane follow signs to Zion

BTW Whoever said Moab can't read a map. way too far.

Try Bryce Canyon or Zion Park in Southern Utah. Internet search it...take about 2-3 hours depending on if you stop to take in all the wonderful scenery. It is cool up there this time of year much cooler than here and it is beautiful, the scenery is amazing and bright. It's one of my favorite places to go and hike!!! Personally I find it more fun than the Grand Canyon.
Grand canyon is a big hole, where these are beautiful canyons you can hike through with waterfalls...etc.

Go to either Red Rock Canyon or maybe take a ride to Laughlin, NV. Laughlin is about an hour & half away...there is about 12 casinos there, but you also have the Colorado River, and you can cross it and do some touring in some of the small towns on the other side of the river.

I loved Bryce Canyon and Southern Utah, it's about a 6 hour trip but it does offer Bryce Canyon, the North Rim, and other nice natural wonders versus the same old South Rim of the GC.

At an absolute MINIMUM, you gotta go see the Hoover Dam. To make it a true day trip, take the optional cruise on Lake Mead. There are tour buses that pickup from just about every hotel on the Strip and Downtown. I think I paid $50.00 a couple years ago. Las year I had a rental car and I drove. It's about 30 miles from the Strip. Enjoy.

as quickly as you get to Williams you are able to take a cook dinner prepare holiday to the Canyon and stay in one day (make reservations earlier than time nonetheless). or you are able to take a helicopter from Vegas to the Canyon and the botton. you ought to have very stepped forward reservations to stay on the inn on the backside of the Canyon.
