it doesn't hurt much if you get it done by the right person. I would suggest going to an actual piercing place that pierces with needles, not piercing guns. piercing guns cause more damage to your cartilage due to the force of the the earring being shot through. just make sure you follow all of the directions for the aftercare and don't touch it with dirty hands b/c it will get infected and that's not fun.

Piercing On Top Of Ear

I got mine done today and I m only 13. I got mine pierced professional, and it did hurt. It only hurts when you get your ear pierced and put your earing in. My ear bled for about a couple of minutes, but after that it stopped. It s still quite sore and is swelling. It kills when you put pressure on it! Otherwise, just leave it and clean it every day and soon you wont be able to feel a thing.

Your best chances to have a less painful and less traumatic and faster healing time with a cartilage piercing is to have it done with a needle by a professional body piercer.

In many states it is illegal to have cartilage done with a gun because of the damage that it has caused. Several years ago 18 people were infected with a bacteria (in the seattle area I think) when someone "piercing" with a gun thought they were sterilizing the jewelry by wiping it off with a rag. three or four of these people had to have surgery because of the horrible infections that they got. Part of their ear cartilage was removed.

Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. My cartilage piercings were not necessarially painful, but uncomfortable. Remember, no sleeping on it and keep all hair care products out of it while it is healing. Healing can sometimes take up to a year or more and removing the jewelry during that time (even for a short period) can cause it to close up.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your piercing!

It hurts more than the lobe piercing, and there's swelling too. Leave the stud in for 6 months or longer and clean it every day, because the cartilage takes much longer to heal than the lobe. Avoid sleeping on it, it will be tender for some time. That gets better as time goes on... at first it hurts noticeably without any touch, then it hurts when lightly touched, then it only hurts when you sleep on it and light touches aren't painful anymore.

it hurts more than a regular ear piercing....it's more uncomfortable while it's healing......( sleeping on it )...and you have to leave the stud in longer than a regular piercing.....maybe 6 months to a year...so pick a stud you really like......

but, it's not horrible.......they do it with the gun, just like the regular one......it's quick.....

any piercing can get infected if you don't take care of it.....mine didn't, but I know others who's have ....

i actually used to have mine pierced..but i ended up taking it out because it hurt to sleep on it many months later. The reason that happened was because i got it pierced by someone that was very inexperienced, and they pierced it in the wrong place. I love the way it looks, but my advice for you is to make sure you get it done by someone who knows what they're doing.
