The actual color part of the eye is the iris. We do not see through the iris. The iris is muscle fibers that contracts and expands the pupil according to light.
Jivan have you ever put just a color up to your eye like 3-D glasses on. It doesn't matter if images are interpreted in your brain.

Because what you see comes through the hole in the middle, called the pupil. But, for the record, blue eyes (like mine) are more sensitive to light than other colors.

Color is not Color but the absence of that color, that is why White and Black are not colors.
My eyes are blue and that would be really freaky, just like a person with brown eyes seeing everything in brown.

Light colored irises reflect light, darker colored irises absorb light...
That's why people who live near a lot of bright snow developed lighter-colored irises, to reflect the glare...
Most people from near the equator have darker irises. As a group, or a tribe, it takes people about 20,000 years to change their iris-color from dark to light...

Because the lens is CLEAR, and you perceive color as they appear.The iris is the colored portion of the eye.
