giantbutton you r taking me back in past when Amigh 500 brings up Workbench 1.3 logo or disk ICON it means your Amiga system disk is required or if you know the Language CLI (Command Line Interface) then what you do is create a system disk. then Open CLI window. In this window you will find the system INFO. Find the line with CLI (Command Line Interface)
SYS=1.3
if sys request = systemdisk.CMD then (DELETE THIS LINE)
sys=true (DELETE THIS LINE)
else (DELETE THIS LINE)
CLI=cls
open cls sys.1.3
close cli;

It sounds like the disk drive might be dirty / damaged. Maybe dirt from the disk you inserted has caused a problem.

You can floppy obtain disk cleaners. I would try one of these first.

If you still have problems, try finding a spare drive to replace the original with. I don't believe PC drives are compatible - you need a specific Amiga disk drive.

There are still sites providing Amiga spares - I suggest you look for one of them.
