depends upon the vehicle but usually the answer is no.. unless it's used for severe service or goes into water a lot, usually the time frame is 30,000-100,000 miles

The quickie lubes will b/s you into getting it done every 10k , just like I can say brake rotors have to be replaced every 10k miles but normally it only needs to be replaced when it's too worn to machine.

Got a question on when it should be done, read the manufacturers service recommendations that came with the car...

and yes there is oil in the differential... depending upon manufacturer, it can be from 80w-90 to fully synthetic 75w-140

Depends on what year and what you are doing with the suv. If it is 2000 or newer chances are it has synthetic gear lube. I assume you are talking about the rear differential. The front diff is probably regular 80w90 gear lube while the rear will normally be 75w90 synthetic. The transfer case depends again make of car. Dodge takes either tranmission fluid or mopar ATF+3 fluid which is also a tranny fluid just made for chrysler products. If you have a GM it could be ATF or Auto Trak II. As far as timing for changing them normally around 30,000 miles but never let someone tell you just by the color. Go by the owners manual. Some synthetics look green or dark and people assume they are dirty.

Yes there is transmission fluid in your four wheel drive differential case and no it doesn't need to be changed every 10,000 miles. If it is a newer suv it will take transmission fluid. If it is an older model and when you drain it, it comes out looking like motor oil then use 80-90W gear oil. There should be a drain plug on the rear of the transfer case and a fill plug on top. Just fill it up until it starts running out of the fill hole and then put the plug(bolt) back in it.

yes there is special differential oil. Typically one changes that oil after 15000 miles (break-in) and then every 30000 after that

It depends on the vehicle, but it should be about 30,000- 50,000. It's gear oil by the way.
