When I was younger, I was very involved in BDSM.I guess I must have done some nerve damage to my breasts, because now my nipples don't respond to "normal" stimulation, which upsets my husband greatly. What, if anything, can I do?

What's "normal?" No, seriously, there may be a couple of different things going on here.
It may be a matter of conditioning, or your body becoming accustomed to certain kinds of stimuli. I know this has happened with me, because there are certain things that really turn me on now that formerly used to make me cringe with disgust or were too painful.
Or, there may actually be some damage to the nerves. Only a physician can tell you for sure. But be sure that you see a "kink-friendly" physician, or you might get a stern lecture. I believe that the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom has a listing of kink-friendly professionals on their website.

This might be a case where you would want to see a neurologist and found out if there are any treatments available. There's probably no need to go into the details of how this might have happened, but you should be ready to have some consistent explanation just in case it is necessary for diagnosis. You and your husband should feel that this is a part of a normal sex life and try to remedy that. I wish you good luck in this.
