Townshend claimed he was only doing this for the purposes of research - he has taken an interest in this subject, claiming to have been abused as a child himself.

EDITED TO ADD: OK so I've read the BBC News article and he got arrested but released by claiming that he was 'researching' as part of his fight against "all types of pornography".
Yeah f***ing right he's just a f***ing paedophile for sure. I don't believe he was researching because;
1 - Why pay for anything using your Credit Card
and
2 - He looks like a paedophile anyway.
He shouldn't have gotten away with it either, that just shows other paedophiles how to get away with it.

I think the police accepted his explanation of conducting research and he was advised as to future conduct.

He got away with it, but recently he has been in trouble again for posting a rather risque story about a 16 year old girl on his website - there were loads of complaints and he took it off.
So he hasn't learned, duh.
