San Andreas came out to play 1st (late '90s)
yet "in-game" dates liberty storie's is the one that came 1st (early '90s
San Andres came out 1st on PS2 & Xbox 1st, and liberty stories came out for the PSP, after being PSP's best selling game SONY just recently released it for PS2.

san andreas comes first in the storyline before the gta 3 character (the one with the black jacket who becomes Carolina's (if it was the name of the crazy female character,the Carl's ex-girlfriend) boy friend),who later becomes the biggest criminal of the liberty city .again in the story gta liberty city stories comes before gta 3.but if you want the the release dates:
