What is shown and presented to be: Middle East!
After the destruction of the Ottoman Empire, no other "Asian" empire remained with regions in Africa, Asia and Europe.
European forces try to capture the most they can from the remains of the Ottoman Empire.
In this strive, many wars has started. Most times they incorporate relative minor issues, like the Suez Canal, Petroleum, Israel, Human rights, etc.!
Also, Middle East is the heart of important geopolitical and strategic locations, including Arab world, North Africa, SE Europe, Persia (Iran), etc.!

In the U.S.A., the most important issue is political corruption. It has come to a point where the Republican and Democratic parties do the bidding of lobbyists, special interest groups, and big business without regard for 'We the People...'

Until our republic becomes a true democracy, wherein the people hold all the power and have social equality, politicians will continue to suck of the taxpayers' teat, enriching themselves and their campaign contributors at the expense of the 'common' citizens.

For almost eight years, I relocated from my home state of Indiana to the Washington, D.C. area to work for a new (at that time) daily national newspaper. I saw upclose and personal how money means nothing inside the beltway. The prevailing attitude seems to be, "Hey, if we need more money, we'll just raise taxes and get it from the citizenry." There is not even an attempt to avoid the appearance of impropriety. That was in the early 1980's - I can only imagine how much more flagrant it is today!

To replace our evil, corrupt, incompetent leaders with truly honorable men and women would be a start. Then we could all get to work on resolving all the other important issues that must be addressed. -RKO-

The right to nuclear weapons.

Right now, North Korea has them, and Iran is seeking them. India and Pakistan, China, Russia, France and the UK have them.

Obviously, a lot can happen once a nuclear weapon is used. The trick is to use politics to prevent that from happening.

The first and only times they were used, there weren't any others in the world. In other words, we weren't in danger of getting hit back. But now, a nuclear strike by the US could result in a counter-strike here.

Imagine turning on the television and seeing a bulletin that says Chicago or Los Angeles or New York was hit by a 50 megaton nuclear warhead.

It would be a nightmare 1000 times worse than 9/11.

We can't let the genie out of the bottle again.

Most important political issue is method of settlement of political disputes. United Nations is only competent forum to sort out issues. Direct interference by big powers for promoting their agenda has spoiled the atmosphere and promoted terrorism in some countries. Remember every person has responsibility for world peace.

The illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, and the brutal war US and allied forces conduct there against the civilian population.

No one influenced me to select the issue, and the reasons for chosing it are obvious and clear to anyone with eyes, ears and a working brain between them. Bush has started World War III and is slowly dragging the whole world into it, unless he is stopped.

The most important issue should be:

Why has mankind not advanced socially in the past 1,000 years? We are still obsessed with killing each other when we should all be pulling together to eliminate human suffering and create an enlightened society.

THE CITIZENS OF OUR UNITED STATES AND ALL IT'S COMMUNITIES HAVE GOT TO GET MORE INVOLVED IN THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS. THIS IS DONE THROUGH MAKING SURE OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE KEPT ON TASK. MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD, KEEP INFORMED, ASK QUESTIONS, TAKE THE TIME TO CAST AN EDUCATED VOTE.

TO WATCH OR LISTEN TO THE NEWS, DISCUSS THE ISSUES AMONG OURSELVES IS ONE THING, TO TAKE ACTION IS THE REAL WORK.

OUR SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT IS "BY THE PEOPLE , FOR THE PEOPLE". FAR TO MANY OF US SIT BACK AND WATCH TAKING NO ACTION AND SADLY SOME DON'T EVEN DO THAT.

PUBLIC SERVICE IS POWERFUL. WE MUST BE MORE THEN A GROUP OF "TALKING HEADS" . I AM A MEMBER OF TOWN GOVERNMENT AND I AM TRULY AMAZED THAT THE VERY FEW (USUALLY NAYSAYERS"AND MISINFORMED)CAN DIRECT A COMMUNITY.
WHERE THE HECK IS EVERYONE?
