With a crack of that size I would recommend changing the door. If this is not an option you might try the following. Drill a hole at each end of the crack, this should stop the crack from growing any longer. Glue a wooden dowel into each hole and sand flat. Fill the crack with a two part filler such as Bondo, a car body filler. Regular wood filler is not designed to fill holes of this size and will crack and fall out with the expansion and contraction of the door. Finally paint the door, epoxy fillers are not stain able.

Unless you can get a new door, I suggest just taking a hard wooden board and nailing it to cover the crack. If you want to make this look fashionable, then paint the whole door a different color (that matches the rest of your house). Instead of wood, you may just want to use duct tape instead. Another nice suggestion is to get a new door but get one with glass inside. I don't know if you live in a high-risk neighborhood though; if this is the case, then perhaps get a metal door. Nonetheless, a crack is not good to combat crime, insects, and the outdoors, and it minimizes the comfortable shelter nature of your house. You need to fix it somehow.

How deep is it?
If it is not to deep you can use a polymer woodfiller, the two component kind.
After you will have to sand down the door and redo the paint job with any color you like.
If it is deep you may need to replace the door as the crack will keep working and 'spit out' any filling you put in.
There is a method called 'the swallow tail'. You cut out wedge like pieces and put in new piece of wood that will keep the crack together. You may want to look into that. After a paint job it should look like new.

Best thing is to replace the door but you can get some wood filler as a temporary alternative. Sand it and match it with paint that looks like the red finish.

The hardware store makes a wood filler and can usually match a stain. The bigger question is why is the crack there and is it likely to happen again?

those are important wellness & questions of safe practices. Landlords are not getting a decision in fixing those styles of issues. He can not cost you for this, it extremely is illegitimate. you want to sue him if he tries. If he does no longer favor to maintain his properties then he has no company being a landlord. Sending him the qualified letter became the first required step. that provides criminal information that he knows about the priority. that's been previous the necessary 30 days from that letter. With the first 2 steps lined you could now call an approved contractor to make the necessary upkeep and take that value off the subsequent months lease. be efficient to grant them a replica of the paid bill. do no longer purely give up paying all lease usually, it extremely is illegitimate. in case you do not favor to administration this ( fairly frankly, this resources nor this proprietor look fairly well worth the hardship) then you could sue him to legally spoil the lease without penalty. you would possibly want to win without problem with such glaring wellness & questions of safe practices.
