It depends on the problem. I believe people of ANY AGE who are sexual predators need to be punished. Teenagers who cause other kinds of trouble probably need more than counseling, but not necessarily punishment. I know adults who've been in counseling 5, 10, 15, 20 years and they don't seem to be getting better so I'm not sure how that's helping anybody.

I think someone should sit down with them and discuss whatever the problem is. so i go with counseled. Maybe during the counsel, a reasonal punishment should be discussed and understood by the teen/s and whoever, and take place after the counsel or a good talking to by some adult/authority/teacher/etc..

Define troubled teen. If it's a teen with family problems...emotional problems then by all means counsel them. But if it's a teen out doing crime....robbing people...hurting them....then that SOB needs punished not coddled. Society allows too many teen crimes to go unpunished because he's "troubled". BULLSH*T!

Punishment is pointless. It just makes them worse. Their brains are going through all kinds of hideous biological changes and won't be cooked until they are 23 or so.

I strongly recommend some sort of counseling or possibly brainwashing while nobody is watching. It's that or taking them to the vet and putting them to sleep.

Don't forget to give them many many condoms.......

teens should be understood not punished....
older people have an experience in life but we dont .......
we have a lot of problems but others dont know about this......
its just that the world should know that teens should be helped because for most of the things they do , its their first time.........read anne frank's diary and make the people read it who think that teens should be punished

They aren't too young to think clearly, they just don't know any better from a lack of life experience.

It depends on what they did. Everyone has been young once, but not everyone did bad things while they were young. Stupid things, probably.
