The Blues Brothers and A Clockwork Orange have my vote as best movies. But in close contention...Raiders of the Lost Ark, Snow Falling on Cedars, Platoon, and The Toxic Avenger.

The Wizard of Oz. Written in 1899, filmed in 1939 and it's timeless. A beautiful story, academy award winning music, the first movie in color (tied w/ Gone w/ the Wind), good for all generations. And, virtually everyone has seen it. I don't think any other movie has been watched (and sung) so often and by so many people.

Gone With The Wind ... for so many reasons but my top one is, it showed a life that many of us didn't experience. And at the time it was made (Before ROOTS and North and South), it was considered the closest thing to the real deal as far as how a slaves life was lived, and the horror of the Civil War.

Blue Velvet

Because it was shot on a extremely low budget, and holds up very well to this day. It also features great performances from Dennis Hopper and Isabella Rossilini.
