I have a cracked tile in my shower. Without removing the tile is there any effective way I can seal it so that it doesn't leak. I have tried refixing it but because it sits behind the tray any movement pulls it away again. I don,t really want to replace the tile if I can help it because I would have to take out the tray and re seal everything.

A shower enclosure should be watertight BEFORE tiles are affixed. Tiles are only for decorative purposes, therefore I suggest that you drill out the offending tile and the whole row if necessary, clean up the undersurface and retile the row. Use contrasting tiles if you have to as presumably you don't have spare tiles. As a footnote my brother in law was a civil engineer and it was he who told me about tiles in showers and swimming pools.

You should use silcone to stick tiles down in areas where there is movement. Remove the tiles affected and clean the are and then dry it. use silicone, not mastic, to refix all the tiles.

It would be far better to replace it. If the tray is prone to movement, it will always potentially be a problem. Why risk a mold/rot problem when replacing it is relatively easy and inexpensive?

Check out DIY's website for great advice :)

Ya, just fill the crack with caulking or silicone. It won't look pretty but it'll save the wall and structure behind the tile.
