To listen to the news, the Taepodong-2 is capable of reaching us now, they have just failed to launch one successfully.

The estimated maximum range of the Taepodong-2 is 10,000 kilometers, assuming the launched from the middle of the country, it is about 9,000 kilometers (straight shot) to Los Angeles.

And thats assuming they don't start with Alaska, which is even more within their range

I believe it is only a matter of time before they will have the capability of launching a nuclear warhead that can reach the continental US. I also believe their leader is "crazy" enough to do it. I don't mean he's mentally ill.

If left unimpeded, yes. This is fairly obvious from recent news.

The US will preempt an such attempt, therefore this situation is unlikely.

Eventually I think they will. Especially if the UN handles it because all they do is talk and don't actually try and resolve anything.
