It happens. As frequently or as "dramatically" as the media portray it? No.
If you haven't heard the U.S. media mantra before let me repeat it here for you. "If it bleeds it leads."
We have a free press. "Free press" does not mean "accurate press", "non-biased press" nor "full of facts press".
It just means "free" from government influence. They are free to report.... or not report.... whatever the editors of a particular media outlet wish.
Welcome to America!

It's not as widespread as the media would lead you to believe. These acts usually occur more frequently in certain areas. If you were to look at a map of such crime scenes, you would notice them being clustered together. That would mean that your chances of seeing (or being involved in) a robbery or murder increases dramatically just by being in those areas. Realistically, however, witnessing a murder is very rare; with a rate of 5.5 per 100,000 people (2004 statistics), it's just not as common as everyone is led to think it is. Robbery is quite a bit higher at about 136 per 100,000 people (2004 statistics), but again not very common. Since most of these acts do not occur out in the open, witnessing them is a rarity.

All crimes that have happened in my life, happened when I lived in Los Angeles. I worked in a bank that was robbed at gunpoint, I found a dead body in a car once, had my purse snatched while waiting for a bus, and came home from work one day to find a burglar asleep in my bed (he was still asleep when the cops arrived).
I left Los Angeles fifteen years ago, and although I have lived places where there were crimes committed, none of them since have happened to ME. Where I live now, there is no crime at all. I definitely prefer this.

I have never witnessed either. I did see a person step out into the street and was killed when the car struck him. Other than that, I have not witnessed all of the violence that I see everyday on the news.

Yes it happens, my son was a a victim of a random act of violence. About five years ago an 18 year old male, who never knew my son attempted to rob him. He and his friends beat my son up, they held him down and the 18yr old male shot my son in his head. My son has since survived this but not with out emotional scars. The guy got less than a year in prison.

i do no longer think of he might desire to be tried as an grownup. in case you have infants, possibly you are able to understand my line of questioning. whilst a 12 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous baby gets molested, we purely say, "He/she's purely 12! they are afraid and ignorant of what grew to become into occurring, so they had no decision!" do no longer lie. actual everyone in this u . s . a . believes that a 12 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous baby isn't at fault for molestation, even whilst they "enable" the sexual act to take place, by way of fact they do no longer know from now on appropriate. same for whilst a baby has emotional problems. all of us purely say, "He/she's purely a baby. they do no longer know the thank you to function yet, as a member of society." purely a silly fool might think of the baby might desire to be held completely in charge for this. there is not any way in hell. If something, the mum and dad might desire to pass to court besides, as an adjunct to homicide, or for manslaughter or a matching conviction. As a discern, you're completely to blame on your baby and his or her strikes. YOU administration whether or no longer they pass exterior after ineffective night at TWELVE. YOU administration whether or no longer that boy has a healthy kinfolk journey or runs interior the streets with weapons. human beings might desire to renounce being ignorant and so offended. Get genuine. The boy is obviously at fault to a undeniable degree, of course (duh). yet that doesn't recommend manage a baby as an grownup. The court on no account does this whilst young ones get statutory rape, or whilst they get molested. the baby for sure has emotional problems by way of fact his mum and dad are the worst products of **** ever. actual everyone needs to renounce appearing like an animal and understand that.
