If you don't know why someone would commit suicide, or consider it 'lazy,' you are obviously fortunate enough to have the circumstances and perspective to provide you with a will to live. If someone has the genuine willingness to kill themselves, one ought wonder why, rather than criticizing without understanding. Naturally, this does not apply to those who are merely grasping for attention (although there are definitely issues to be looked at there, too).

Well, I can't quite agree.
Young people complain about all these because their world has been severely affected.
Babies cry over a broken toy. Teenagers feel like jumping off a building when they find out their crush is seeing someone else.
Most of the time, they don't mean to follow through on such a thing and just vent their despair.
But then, in Japan, for example, you have the teenagers with slave drivers for parents. They don't have playtime (it's considered laziness), they don't have friends outside of school or church or temple time, they go from school to tuition to homework at home every single day. Holidays are an opportunity for yet MORE tuition and "constructive" work. And God forbid they should get anything lower than an A. They'd probably get severely whipped if there is so much as a B on the report card. Is it a wonder these guys decide to take their life?
If you mean that suicide would be cowardly and pathetic because they're wasting their potential, I agree. But please keep in mind that many a time, they don't plan such a thing. They are driven to it by hopelessness and despair. These people need love and encouragement, even to the point of stubbornness. So comfort them, cajole them or if it's needed, just give them a tight slap and tell them to grow up.
Good luck. :)

I don't agree that it's lazy, I think it's case by case thing. Sometimes it's a form of giving up and being weak enough to not see the light at the end of the tunnel. Other times it could be a case of a severe form of depression that leads to an ultimate end. And other cases could be primarily for attention. It really just depends on the person's mental state at the time and if they are "successful" many will never know the true reason for them doing it.

100% agree. It is nothing more than the coward's way out. But not in all cases. Mental illness and such "I lost a very close friend with an illness after a car wreck. He hung himself" . But in most cases yes. Life is not that bad.

suicide being lazy?? I don't think so. I don't think it's lazy, I just think it's an easy way out. When times are hard (sometimes really hard) younger people feel that there is nowhere to go or no one to go to. I have had a couple friends commit suicide, and I don't think it was just because they are lazy. I just feel it was because it was an easy way out.

no its not lazy its a troubled mind and i wish i could have just been able to read a troubled mind for maybe i could have stopped my cousin ,who was close but not close enough to tell me his troubles, and i miss him a lot for we did a lot of stuff
together good and bad,dancing,hunting,drinking,
but i did not see the signs of him losing it and leaving a suicide note before he put a pistol to his head and blew his brains out :(

no-it takes a lot of willpower to actually kill yourself.
NOT that it's right but some people get so f*cked up in the head that they decide to end the pain.
STUPID, but not lazy.
