Yes. I think yous laptop has got that mouse with than plat sensor ( on wich you can move your finger) . Is that right? on its borders ( on most laptops the right part) and the down part are for scrolling. If you drag your finger on the right part, it scrolls. Try moving your pointer on the middle part of your laptop.

The laptop is designed for your convenience, so that if you want to scroll down or up you could use the right hand side of the touch pad for easy scrolling.

you could disable the mouse plate on the laptop & get yourself a normal usb mouse, i fixed the problem that way, with mine. just a cheap optical mouse will do.microsoft intellimouse, £25.00ish
