Did it show that you were not pregnant? Was it a home test? If it is early on, your hormone levels might not show the pregnancy yet but the new tests are supposed to be so accurate. It depends on if you are having symptoms of pregnancy and how far along you think you might be. If you are only a few weeks into this, give it another try in 3-4 weeks. If you think you are 6 or more weeks into this, do call the doctor. If you are pregnant, you will need to be seen, to start taking vitamins and finding out what you need to do to insure a healthy baby.

If the test comes out negative and you wait a week or two and still don't have your period, I would take another one. Odds are it might have been too early to detect the pregnancy hormone.

if you take it too early after conception your hcg hormone levels may not be high enough for the test to detect and you may get a false negative reading. I suggest going to the pharmacy and looking for a test that you can take as early as the first day of your missed period, ask the pharmacist for help if you need to. I suggest looking for an easy to read test with plus/minus symbol indicating pregnancy. Also refer to this website, it's very helpful.

Good luck.
