I agree with the first answer......but in the U.S.

the order is something like this:

(1) Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh
(2) Stanford
(3) MIT
(4) U.C. Berkeley
(5) ....I am not completely sure but it could be either Harvard or Georgia Tech. (maybe?)

I am aware that there are many outstanding Universities in India--but I am unsure as to rankings

Germany has many outstanding Universities.

The money, in particular, comes from the skills you acquire on your way to the PhD. A PhD is respected most by other PhDs.

No, a high paying job gives you respect in tems of money and status. A Ph.D. in computer science without a high paying job means that you wasted a lot of time and money.

a phd in comp can get a job in uni and also in the industry as well
as for where to do it, you can do it at uni such as the oxford
