Never. One can't pay the actual people killed. Just like paying reparations to the blacks. An equal question should the sins of the father be paid for by the son. What happens if the wealth obtained from the sin were never passed on to the son.

From Indian tradition when tribes fought did the son of the winning tribe later help support a son from the losing tribe. What was the rule if it could be proven that his fathers weapon did the killing.

The question is when are white people going to get minority status and get all the benefits from it. Or another one is when are some African Americans going to quite thinking that white people owe them something because they might have ancestors that we slaves? Native Americans have gotten enough money now, so we can quite the reparations. I dont have to worry about it cause my family is part Native American so they can have there land back cause i will still have mine.

As long as the USA occupies our land, they can continue to pay us for it...

What happened was inevitable... How it happened was unconscionable...

The U.S. government made a deal to occupy lands unjustly and unlawfully taken from the Anishinabe. Realizing that we cannot change what happened the government needed to atone for their actions. The solution was and still is to pay the Anishinabe a fair price. The reparations, debt and interest on that debt STILL has not been paid! The U.S. government has to pay until the dept has been settled...

Reparations should only be paid to people who were actually harmed. So if there are any 100 year old NAs out there who had land taken away from them, give us a call. If you are a decendant you get nothing. America is the land of opportunity. Go out there and work for your money and stop trying to take it out of the taxpayers pocket!

When does it stop? The blacks want compensation for the great-grandfathers for being forced into slavery. Every society has made mistakes but we can not continue forever to pay for the crimes of our forbears. We can not expect, likewise, for the offspring of such ill-treated people to attempt to hold that stigma over us. We had nothing to do with the mess and to expect the current generation to pay for such a travesty is both absurd and just plain extortion of the younger people. It is time to grow up and face your own life, its inherent problems, the consequences and the rewards by your own efforts. Sorry no free hand-out here!

It is not clear that reparations are appropriate. (Responder Frank's remarks are definitely on point.) But the BIA's mismanagement of tribal funds in its care has been a scandal for years, and the judges hearing the case have roundly and soundly denounced the BIA's ineptitude. Severe sanctions are possible.

As soon as they make their account currant, but unless they brought their balance up to date they ( we) should pay forever. You know what I like so much about Indians? The Indian doesn't poop in his own bed! Or anyone else's for that matter. If our white asses had never landed ashore and started bothering these people the America would still be a virgin, no smog no pollution and clean, clean water clean air, clean planet. Can we start again?

Forever and ever! Until the end of time.... The Native Americans were slaughtered for their lands and decimated from the diseases the European scums - your ancestors- brought to America... There is absolutely no way you can retrieve...

there should be no reparations. Why should I give up my land, to a Native American. I wasn't around when it was taken. My family didn't come here until after that, we had nothing to do with it.
