Primary -- dealing with raw materials (ex. farming, foresting, fishing, mining)
Secondary -- using raw materials to make something else (ex. manufacturing, weaving, building)
Tertiary -- performing services (ex. banking, practicing medicine, social work, stock trading)
In the U.S., more people were employed in Primary Services than in the other two sectors combined in 1900.
Now, about 2 pecent of the population is in the primary sector and 75 percent is in the tertiary sector.
