Yeah my son did that when he was 2 months old, but by 3 months he figured out how to get it back to his mouth LOL It's exhausting keeping up with him & trying to put it back in everytime & if it falls on the floor I had to wash it, so I bought him a few binky clips so it wouldn't fall if we were someplace that I couldn't wash it. If you haven't invested in some of those I would! They have adorable ones out there of all different characters available at Toys-R-Us or Wal-Mart

That's a very common action for infants. At this age they are curious as to "what is this thing in my mouth?" They want to take it out and look at it. They also lack the hand/eye coordination to put it back into their mouth.
She probably will not be able to put it back for at least 2-3 months. In this time it's understandable that it's frustrating for you, but just let her do her thing. Don't worry about putting it back unless she is crying and needs it. She just wants a toy to play with.

My daughter did this all the time-be patient. She is now 7 months old and can put it back in herself. Unfortunately, this skill does not seem to occur after 8:00, so I occasionally have to do this in the middle of the night!

Yeah, weird how they do that. I think it's because they're not coordinated enough to get the hand and binky back to the mouth!

I guess a binky is a dummy. Well my kids have never had one. Maybe your baby is trying to tell you she wants something different in her mouth! My baby does suck his fingers and gets upset if he can't find them again although he never had a problem when he was tiny.

maybe you should take that as.... I don't want the thing. It would be better for you in the long run if you stop that habit now...
my baby came home from the hospital & had it for i'd say 1 week & I carried it around & tried for the next month but she just didnt want it back. I was really glad.

lol, that's cute...I've seen babies do this but I do not have a child of my own so I have to live vicariously through other parents. :)
