Egyptian pyramids are generally divided into step and true pyramids. While Djoser's 3rd Dynasty Step Pyramid at Saqqara is the first step pyramid, dating to 2667-2648 BC, the first true pyramids were both built by the 4th Dynasty King Sneferu (also spelled Snofru).

Sneferu reigned between 2589 and 2566 BC. He built not one but two enormous pyramids at the site of Meidum. One is known as the "bent" or "rhomboidal" pyramid, owing to a sudden change of angle part way up the profile. This more southerly of the two pyramids was called "Sneferu-of-the-south-appears-in-glory" by the ancient Egyptians The second is the "northern" or "red' pyramid, which was fully completed and has a normal angularity. The northern pyramid was called "Sneferu-appears-in-glory" by the ancient Egyptians.
Khufu, Sneferu's son and successor is better known as a constructor of pyramids, as the Great Pyramid at Giza was his funerary monument and is the largest surviving pyramid in Egypt, though the amount of labor and material needed to build Sneferu's two pyramids exceeded the amount of labor and material needed to build Khufu's single, larger pyramid at Giza.

The first historically documented Egyptian pyramid is attributed to the architect Imhotep[5], who in constructing what Egyptologists believe to be a tomb for the pharaoh Djozer, it is theorised first conceived the notion of stacking a number of mastabas on top of each other — thereby creating an edifice comprised of a number of steps that decreased in size towards its apex. The result was the Step Pyramid of Djozer — which was designed to serve as a gigantic stairway by which the soul of the deceased pharaoh could ascend to the heavens. Such was the importance of Imhotep's achievement that he was deified by later Egyptians.[6].

The step pyramid was the first, I'm unsure when it was built but it looks like a series of steps (hence the name) and was a fair time before the great pyramids at Giza

The first was the pyramid of Zoser ("The Step Pyramid"), and the architect was the great Imhotep. I don't remember when it was built, but my excuse for this is that it's 5 a.m., and I don't wanna look it up.
