So not shower 6 hours before waxing. If you need a bath or shower, take care of that well before. Do not wear any lotions, creams, or fragrances on the area to be waxed. About an hour before you get waxed, take a tylenol or excedrin. I usually take one tylenol pm. This dulls the pain, and makes me sleepy. If you are driving to or from the appointment, skip the pm and go for an excedrin migraine. When you are being waxed, try to stay calm. Close your eyes and relax. (This is where the tylenol pm comes in)

If you are doing the waxing yourself

Get a friend to help. Sometimes you need an extra hand to help you pull the skin taut. Pulling the skin taut before rippingt he wax off helps to reduce pain more than anything. If you are waxing small areas, try using your finger to apply a bit of pressure to the area for a few seconds imediately after it has been waxed. This dulls the pain a bit.

Make sure you put baby powder on the area to be waxed first. This will help the wax to not adhere to your skin and thus helps in limiting irritation.
