Why do guys run a mile when they find out a girl is a virgin? I mean, my best friend has this problem, she's 23 and still a virgin, and i think its awesome. But as soon as a guy she likes finds out, he runs like all the demons of hell were after him...why?

Because these guys are jerks who think that NO girl or woman is or should be a virgin before a certain age. Also because they are merely players who look for girls just for sex or fun. Virgins are TOO holy for them to handle since they've only dealt with sexually experienced girls. Tell your friend to be proud of herself because these guys know that she's too good to be violated. I'm very happy to know that she's still a virgin, just like me.!!!

p.s. I feel exactly the same way about guys who approach me for only one purpose or motivation: to get laid. What morons!!!

First off, most guys her age have known friends who had a sexual encounter with a virgin and she went and got preggers on them. At 23, the last thing a single guy needs, he thinks is a wife. (Employers like married young people because it makes them more stable, however.) Then there is the problem about how sex for a girl the first time is painful, few guys want that emotional burdon. And thirdly the guys may be virgins themselves. Tell your girlfriend not to make a big deal of her virginity to the next boy, love really does need time to grow.

Pressure I'm sure could be the most common reason. Look at like this if they are feeling that their sexual performance is sub-par at least with a women that has had sex with others they might not be their worst one. or maybe because for some women it might make them feel more for the guy and rush into more of relationship than the guy is ready for. i agree that it is awesome that your friend has stay off the market that long but tell her not to worry it was good those other guys ran off, they would have been a bad first time for her. hopefully she can find someone that takes her wait seriously and shows some respect.

I prefer virgins myself because risk of STI is lower. The claim that men do not like virgins seems based on anecdotal evidence.

Hmmm... I think a lot of guys just don't want the "responsibility" of being the first one. I mean, even the scuzziest of guys recognizes that there is something significant about the first time and it might lead to some sort of emotional tie that he doesn't want.

Depends on which part of the world you are in. In many Asian cultures, men WANT their women to be virgins when they marry, else its a strict no-no.

Because he knows he won't get sex without marriage. A lot of men are afraid of marriage......it cramps their style. Our society has a mode of "get it now, get it fast, get out when a baby shows up.

They know it will be a challenge. And if they meet the challenge then they know that they will be her first which carries responsibilty of her emotions.
