I am 27 and I feel like it’s too late for me to get a driver license, EVER. I am driving around town for a month now and my husband said I’m pretty good at it. But there were instances that I lacked confidence and started being wimpy or scared (it's because of these images of crashing cars or hitting somebody flashing in my mind). I don’t wanna be stuck and rely to him all the time to drive me places where I wanna go. I need my independence. Do you think that behind-the-wheel tutorial will cure this or is this more of an emotional issue? Also, how much do they usually charge for the actual driving lesson?

Whew...I'm glad I receive a lot of sensible answers. Some people are not that gracious to share wisdom, thanks to all of you guys.

My hubby is understanding and supportive enough that he doesn't care if he drove me 50 miles to wherever it is that I wanna go. I guess I need to work on my confidence and focus "harder" when I'm on the wheel.

phone_tv_dsl is right, I actually haven't witnessed any crashings right before my eyes so it's all in my goofy head...

Try taking the vitamin "B complex" it reduces stress and the anger associated with driving. It also mellows you out so that the other crazy drivers don't bother you so much. I know from personal experience. I have driven a city bus for 14 years and for the first 4 or 5 years I took B complex just so I wouldn't get rattled when another driver did something stoooopid like making a right turn from the left side of my bus. I will tell you that in all my years of driving I have only seen 3 accidents personally happen before my eyes. If you will follow some simple rules you too can drive with confidence and respect. 1. You do NOT have the "right of way" until another driver GIVES it to you.If another driver comes up to a red light and is going faster than you think they should be going to stop in time, don't move into intersection even if your light is green. Being right DOES NOT make PAIN go away. 2.Always give yourself a "safe following distance" to the driver in front of you. 3. Always be aware of your surroundings. Try to give yourself a 3 foot boundry around your vehicle at all times. Sometimes this is impossible but for the most part you can do this. 4. NEVER DRIVE DRUNK. 5.Last but not least, don't let pride get in the way of your driving...........ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN AN ACCIDENT.

Don't feel so bad! I took divers ed in high school and I was terrified. I passed and everything but even though I had a driver's license I didn't get behind the wheel till I was 26- two years ago. I called some driving schools about driving lessons. It was expensive! One school want 65 dollars for an hour of driving time. Another was cheaper- which I went with- 60 dollars an hour. But don't let this discourage you because eventually you'll be okay. I still sometimes get nervous but I remind myself that allot of this is all just in your head!

depends on where you get your lessons. I did drivers training for $20 per hour. Honestly, they only teach you have to begin to drive.
You seem to lack confidence; I don't think drivers training will help much. I'm sure your husband is right. It's not too late to learn to drive, just practice. I drive okay (for a 17 year old) but i;ve had numerous "almost accidents." It's okay, you'll get used to driving and soon it'll come easy. Those worries will go away eventually.
Happy driving and good luck!

Well for me it was AU$40 a lesson for 2 hours.

BTW, don't worry about the nerves, but keep practising. Everyone gets a little nervous when they start out, even me and I was really excited about driving and ready to go.

Actually on my driving test, I drove out of the carpark, came to a round-a-bout, panicked and ended up stopped with the front of the car on the roundabout. It was a small one too, so not much room to move in, but I just took a breath and kept my focus and kept going.

The more you do it the better you'll get and the more in control. Keep going with it!

As for the fear of crashing, remember that you are seeing the worst of driving. How often do you see cars crashing on any given day in real life? I drive a lot and have only seen a handful of crashes. Sure, they do happen, sometimes due to the other person being dumb, but it certainly is the minority of what goes on while driving.

you want to get in contact with a prepare operating corporation or Freight operating corporation and discover out what vacancies they have. also attempt multiple the Plant businesses which contain Fastline, Colas, Balfour Beatty and so on as they prepare drivers to operate andcontinual heavy plant (Tampers and so on...) one element to consider on the instant should be that businesses which contain EWS (DBS now) and Freightliner are speaking about redundancies on the instant because of a downturn in site visitors, so there'll be alot of Drivers searching for artwork (2 hundred or so) together as you're, so that you're extra acceptable off searching for some variety of rail artwork frequently and then attempting to get an inner emptiness or promotion really than bypass instantly for driving. this will also furnish you with some theory as to wether you're ideal for railway artwork because the hours and circumstances are unsociable (you may not like it). better of success besides

Try beating the red light. Then outrun the police chasing you. After driving all over the city and all over the freeway, and somehow getting away with it, I'm sure your confidence level in driving will never ever be low again.

Hehe, just kidding. But you can try some minor stunts where it's safe and legal to do so.

I don't think a tutorial will help you really. I think you just need to get out more and drive with the hubby. The more you drive, the more confident you'll become.
