I've never been on jury service but I do work on court cases. You won't necessarily be picked when you get to court, they randomly select 12 out of a pool of juries and there will be a lot of waiting around while the barristers have legal arguments with the judge, you may find yourself going into court only to be ushered out again.

On the whole I would tell you to enjoy it, some cases will be boring but if you're lucky you will get an interesting one. From what I have observed from juries when I have attended on trials they either look extremely bored or very engaged in the case.

You're informed that you must appear or get a valid excuse not to go. When you go on the appointed day(s), you may spend most or all of the day just siting and waiting to be called. If you are selected to be on a jury, you then must get up early every day and plan on spending all day sitting and listening, and maybe all night by yourself unable to discuss the case with anyone. And so on and so forth.

It's not terribly exciting. It can get boring. But it is a civic responsibility.

It's great - like being selected to be on big brother.... you get thrown into a room with a complete cross section of society - and with all the wierd selection of viewpoints that it brings...... but the other answerers are right when they say there's a lot of waiting around....

Usually quite boring. Most of the time is spent waiting to see if you will be picked for a trial. Bring something to do. Put your cell phone on silent or they will take it away from you.

It all depends on the trial and how sensitive the case is in the end and how you feel at the time it can be hard to make a final decision.

Horrible, boring, exciting and you never really know if you are getting it right, best go for innocent, unless you are very, very certain.

I can be excruciatingly boring.

It also makes you realize that you don't want these people deciding your fate should it come to that.
