The best plasmas to buy right now are:
Samsung 42" or 50" HP-Sxx53 and HP-Sxx73 series.
LG 42" or 50" xxPX5D series.
Hitachi 42" or 55" xxHDS69, xxHDT79 and xxHDX99 series.
and the Vizio 42HDTV.
Avoid the Panasonic TH-xxPX60U and PX600U series., they are not very good compare to last year's PX50 and PX500 series. Also the current HP PL4260N and PL5060N, they are no longer made by Panasonic, and Toshiba same deal, they are no longer made using Panasonic PDP modules.
The xx determine the size in inches.

I agree with the last answer, that Samsung is a good make.
If you are going to invest that much money in a tv, then get HD, 'cause in a few years, nearly all programmes will be in HD, and you'll miss out. It makes a lot of difference, and is well worth the expense !

get LED tv plasma tvs only have expected life of 4 to 5 yrs at the moment!

Don't go there, LED screens are far the best as plasma TV's can be very dodgy. I know I work in the industry.

Samsung is a very good make , but not sure about hd. sorry.
