The more. the MERRIER! I highly recommend it! ( no, your dog is NOT going to take control of your house hold if you let it sleep in your bed!)
It relaxes me more to have a sleeping animal (or 3) next to me!

If my babies want to sleep in the big bed they can. I have 3 cats that take turns between the open window, my bed, and their big cat bed. And what does having kids have anything to do with pets in the bed? That has to be the most stupid thing I have ever heard of.

My mother has both her dogs in bed with her at night. My dog is an outdoor dog. Too many rentals where she couldn't come in and now she's adapted to the outdoor life. As much as I'd love something to cuddle with- I think I'll keep looking for a man. My dog is always muddy, eats poop from other animals and eats roadkill. I love her, but as long as she does that she's not going to sleep with me. In fact, I told her my next pet will be one that grazes!

Three cats sleep on the bed. Whenever there are territorial issues, then only two cats sleep on the bed and the other one sleeps on the floor.

My ferret almost got crushed under a heavy piece of furniture and went into respiratory arrest. I had to do rescue breathing on him and he survived the incident, thanks to our vet. He did x-rays and gave my fert a shot to counteract the shock he was in. I was supposed to isolate and watch him for the day. That was at noon. I had worked all night and was scheduled to work again that night, so I just put him in his little carrier along with a potty, water bottle and some food and put him on the bed right next to my head, so I could keep an eye on him between zzz's. Needless to say, I jumped up every time he moved in there, but I didn't mind. We finished the Prednisone the doc put him on and he's as good as new. :)
He no longer sleeps with me, neither do his three buddies. One of them snores.

My Labrador, Maxwell, always sleeps in my bed. He refuses to sleep any where else. I don't mind at all, he is after all my baby.
