Even a beggar would accept US Dollar. You'll be surprised, even though they are illeterat, they know the strength of the currency. When ever Indians see foreigners, dollar bills are running in their mind. Dollars have a gr8 value in India.
Try scattering some around....you'll be mobbed buddy!!!

It would be illegal and subject to prosecution if someone caught trading in any other currency than INR in India. Exceptions are the foreign exchange dealers and services in hospitality industry with license to accept payments from foreigners.
Regarding observations of CURIOUS on the strength of US $ vis-a-vis INR, I have done shopping in New York, London, Dubai, Hongkong and Singapore by paying equivalent INR. It is the strength of the money which works, in whatever acceptable currency it is, no special treatment to US $. It is high time to clear mis-conceptions for oneself.

that is substantially customary, yet i ought to in ordinary words use the U. S. dollar to purchase issues on the food market, shops like Ripley, McDonalds and shops like that. change you funds at a good area like a monetary company or Western Union because they could attempt to tear you off (on the streets) in case you do not. they could grant you with pretend funds so be careful. Oh and in order that that you recognize in case you'll use US funds, the expenditures might want to be in mind-blowing situation without rips or tears or in the different case they received't be customary. sure, that's authentic that the ATM machines can grant you with both US funds or Nuevo Soles. even as i take advantage of to take out my funds, the ATMs used to cost me 4 soles in accordance to transaction and that became 2 years in the past. playstation once you're at a eating position, that is optimal to apply the Nuevo Sol overseas money.

I went to India and I had to go to a exchange place to get RS. they cant take dollars in markets and so on, because they have no way to legally exchange it, you need an American passport to exchange it. once again I stress "Legally".
