It depends on which part of the company you work for. I worked for them for 11 years. The Truckload division wasn't so great for me. You might wait 3-4 hours to get dispatched after getting empty. Then spend a couple of hours getting loaded and have to drive all night long to make your delivery appointment. This happened all the time and convinced me to get out of that division. Shuttle or LTL was good but they cut that division by 1/3 and don't hire anymore. Now AE hires Combo drivers which means one day you drive in the City making pickup/deliveries the next you work in Shuttle and have to work overnight, and the next day you work Truckload. So each day you change trucks and never know how much work you will get for the week. The truckload division carries lots of auto parts and that means Just in Time deliveries. I suggest that you ONLY work in the Supply Chain Solutions ,or what most people call Dedicated division. Some of those accoutnts are the best jobs in the Company. Others are just OK. But find out the Details for that account before hiring on. If you don't know the details of the account call the Site Manager for that account he will be your boss. The truckload drivers often drove less than 2000 mi a week because of all the sitting around time. My opinion is this Averitt Truckload- NO, Averitt City- Yes, Averitt- Shuttle- Can't, and Averitt Dedicated- It depends which account.

I'd check with the labor division in the state that the companies headquarters are located in. They'd have a public record (or could guide you to it) of complaints, lawsuits, etc. leveled against them by (current and/or former) employees.

Never worked for them but have seen a lot of their trucks.
they are probally like most trucking companies out there. they have pros and cons. Anymore I dont think many companies are too different when it comes to truck drivers.
