First, read the eBay information guides on buying! Your friend fell victim to one of the many scams out there right now it looks like. If you take the time to learn the buying basics, which are freely offered and highly recommended, you are far less likely to have any problems. Report the problem even though you will probably never see the $... It might help track and stop them since these thieves seem to close one account and open another rapidly, preying on folks who don't take the time to be savvy to the tell-tale signs of a scam.

Never send WU transfers is my policy. They have no recourse or sender protection policies in their transactions so you better personally know your recipient... I always use PayPal and I always check a seller's feedback before bidding, especially when purchasing from some countries.

Always remember the old saying... "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is!"

China itself is not a problem, but I have only purchased items traditionally of China... not electronics... and only from reputable dealers.

Sounds like you have had some bad luck and been scammed. Ebay UK have just advised all users not to use Western Union or other money transfers, as there is no comeback. Stick to Paypal and you can get your money back if anything goes wrong.

Looks like your friend fall into the old wire transfer scam. Tell your friend he/she is never going to get the money or the goods.

First rule of safe eBaying is NEVER EVER wire money anywhere. ONLY use USPS Money Orders or PayPal., if the sellers insist then no deal.

I bet he/she try to get one of thouse flat panel TVs, right? eBay China is not regulated like eBay U.S., the use of credit card during registration is not necessary, making it very easy for scamers to register and offer goods that do not exists.

Second rule is, not to purchase high-end ticket items such as computers or flat panel TVs on eBay. These popular items are the perfect bait for innocent eBayers.
