You are probably asking this question after recently seeing "Pirates of the Carribean"
Basically, what the other perople are saying are right. If there is a woman on board, it could lead to feuds between shipmates over the fancies of the woman.

Because all of the pirates are going to want to have sex with her and somebody is bound to get jealous and of course the lady will start using her feminine wiles to break down solidarity . . .
