I am a direct descendant of the Mayflower. My great (9x) uncle was the only child born on the Mayflower. I was adopted by first generation immigrants.
You ask alot of questions. As far as living anywhere else..............NO WAY! My Puritan relatives are pretty well-covered in American history.
My Russian side...........A heroic story of my great grandfather being shot down as my great grandmother ran towards a boat with my grandfather in her arms.
All sides of my family seem to have immigrated due to religious persecution. Sacrifices........any immigrant leaves behind a life of vast securities for unknown realms.
What I would say to them..........Thank you! For being brave, for risking death, for allowing yourself to dream of a better life, for giving me a chance to live with freedom, and choice.

I would say, go back where you came from and solve the problems there, (in my case, in Europe and Asia), and when you've done that, then come here. You have no right to mess up a new place.
My life is no doubt easier than it would have been elsewhere, but the cost to others has been very incredibly high. I guess this isn't the good patriotic answer you wanted, but it's honest.
By the way, I say the same thing about going to the moon or Mars. Clean up your mess. Don't impose on others.

Well as I don't live in the US I can ceratinly say that being not born in the US is the best thing that could happen to anyone. In general, the people of the US are pathetic selfish people who think the world revolves around them. The US is NOT the best place to live in the world. The US does NOT control or lead the world.
The US, like other great empires in the world is built upon propaganda and keeping its people insular. However, it is good to see that the United Statesmen that have visited my country are not the pathetic brainwashed sorts that you are. However, it is good to see that people anywhere can be born in oppresive regime and rise above them.
But the advantage of being born anywhere other than the US for the rest of you brainwashed United Statesmen? That you won't be brainwashed with a disease as horrible as Americanism.

I would commend their strength. My paternal grandparents came here from Ireland. Lived in fairly close proximity to each other there, never met until they arrived in the big windy city of Chicago. Both came on their own and left large families behind because of the extreme poverty there. What determination!
And when my dad married a woman of English descent, my grandmother stood in the back of the church wearing a black scarf - lol. wee bit 'o luggage, there.

I'd just like to talk to them...it would be fasinating to hear their stories. My mom told me once about two years ago her journey from El Salvador to here and I found it fasinating, you can learn a lot about yourself through them.
