a stock 1968 428 shelby gt500kr runs a 14.04sec quarter (0-60 in 6.9sec), with a top speed of 130mph
427 shelby cobra s/c runs a 12.4 sec quarter, (0-60 in 4.5), with a top speed of 165mph.
the 427 shelby cobra is faster.

428 has smaller pistons and more travel low RPMs. 427 larger pistons less travel high RPMs. You figure which one is faster in what conditions. ei: Drag: 428, GT Racing: 427, Oval: 428 if it can stay on the track, before the 427 can catch it.

The Cobra, definitely. Much lighter than the GT500 KR, with about the same horsepower and torque out of the engine. They were a terror on the track when they were campaigning--and they still command respect today.
The GT500 turned in quarter mile times of about 14.8 seconds and had a top speed of 130 mph. The 1966 427 Cobra had a quarter mile time of 12.4 seconds and a top speed of 165.3 mph. They were--and still are--revered super cars, but absolute beasts to drive.

the 427 hands down. think of the power to weight ratio, the cobra, what body panels there are is all aluminum.In fact it was rated in the Guinness book as the fastest production car for many many years before it finally got beat out in the 90s by some foreign super car

Have driven both but not at the same time of course lol they both are crazy quick, super fast , makes my heart pound just thinking of the two, tell your son he would not be disappointed in either one and would hold his head very high, great question, two great cars fact very extream it would be very close the 427 sc would be the faster of the two
