I hope a long answer won’t turn u off!!
It depends from person to person. Definitely one thing is for sure, people mainly attempt questions from categories of their interest.

* Now, getting more specific- in my case I prefer questions that are less repeated, interesting & ones that I can give better answers!! There are categories of expertise for everyone. For me it might be more on Cricket, Science, Yahoo! answers & 360 etc. If a question is average, I just check the person’s profile, just to make sure that he’s a regular user & will care to resolve the questions. As I prefer answering essay answers, this helps me. I have lesser chances to get picked, if it goes to voting!

* Now on a much more general perspective, people hate questions like “ what do u think of my avatar?” , “who’s your favourite star?”, “who’s going to win the world cup?” etc. But u still get lots of answers for such questions! This is just due to new or non-regular users. Once they see such questions often ,they’ll skip them!

* Age factor- most young users prefer questions related to entertainment, sports, computers or Jokes & riddles. For someone in 30’s or higher, they focus more on Philosophy, society & culture, riddles etc…But this is never a general rule!

* There are lots of users just interested in 2 points. They don’t really care about the question. U even get answers like, “I don’t know” or “ Thanks for 2 points loser!” or maybe a ‘copy & paste’ of other answers!

* For few questions must satisfy their intellectual demands, for others it’s just fun!

…. Too many questions are a turn off. You have to search a lot for the perfect question! So what do u look for in an answer?? LOL

Hi! I tend to answer questions that I know the answer to and if the askers seems sincere in knowing the answer. Lots of people ask questions about life and about themselves. I think these are really important questions, so I try to help out. I like to answer in a way that helps people think about themselves in new ways and discover what's normal and good about them.

Sometimes, I'll also answer questions that are fun, but don't have any deep purpose. A lot of it depends on my mood too.

Hi there,

It's not that too many are a turn off, not for me anyway. What I do have a problem with is not enough details, so I have to guess what their situation is. I am normally in garden and landscape, and folks just don't seem to be very specific about their problem.

I am happy to share my knowledge, if I sort of know better what I am dealing with.

In my case (I can't speak for others), I like to answer questions about subjects that I have considerable interest in. In addition, I'd like to think my answers, rather valid or not, will encourage others to take the time to re-evaluate their own pre-concieved ideas and notions......

I prefer the questions which do not stereotype people and don't waste time. They should be interesting and original.

don't you think that questions like: """if you had a super power, what would it be?""" are a bit exploited?

I like things which include "POLLS", and he question should be short and to the point.

Thanx

Yes! I wish everyone had questions that I could answer. I really HATE it when someone asks a question about that painful rectal itch...

relate to it, something we can help others with, no dumb lame boring questions. sometimes when lots of questions all together it can get bothersome to answer them all.
