My opinion is that you dont generalise this with Amercians, There are a lot of European countries where people are shy of committing to a marriage in thier early thirtees even, This is now becoming a world over phenomenon,
The Reasons are mulitple factors influencing this, First financial independence, then Social structure of a country is another major reason, thirdly the vistas of entertainment provided in any place that make people deviate from the early marriage tradition, fourth is the kind of costs involved in childcare and social securities offered, fifth is the kind of help available in places where there are nuclear families, for child care, baby sitting etc. etc.
Its not just that people want fun all the way, marriage is a serious commitment and one should be sure of himself or herself.
