Cutter's Point Coffee Shop - because they provide free wireless internet connections to their patrons, while Starbucks does not.

I'm not sure what a regular coffee shop is unless you mean a diner, but Starbuck's makes a GR8 strong coffee. Just watch out for the added fat & sugar in all the delicious specialty drinks.

I like the local coffee shops, because they have a hell of a lot more sugar free syrups, Starbucks has only 3. Besides my sister works for Allaan Bros Coffee of Albany OR.

I had a job which required me to visit offices in a dozen cities in N. Calif. and it seemed everyone wanted to take me to Starbucks for coffee. So I have been to dozens of them, and I have never had a good cup of coffee, cappucino or anything else at any of them. In most it was some of the worst coffee I've ever had.
I'd rather go almost anywhere else. I do like their bottled iced products though.
