Indian villages are still racked by a number of problems, both on the level of infrastructure (no good roads, potable water, electricity is scarce), and on the social front (there's still a lot of casteism that goes on here)
Most villagers earn their bread by farming. There's a lot of cottage industry like pottery, jute sacks etc etc
A typical village in India would be Ananganallur.

Primary source of livelehood is Agriculture, Dairy products and poultry... The Govt has various schemes and offices to market their produce.
Anand in Gujrat was once a village...its a beaming prosperous town today
