Always use a hard wire to connect any devices that will be used for wireless networking.
Once you have connectivity with the laptop using an ethernet cable be sure to create your wireless network before disconnecting the cable.
You will need to make sure your laptop and your wireless router are configured correctly, and once this is done you may need to restart the PC.
If so, when PC comes back up "Check for available wireless networks" and click "connect." Then take out the ethernet cable, and you should be good to go.

Personally, I've had nightmarish experiences setting up wireless networks, so I know what you're going through. I'm assuming your connection works for the computer directly connected to the router, so try going to the netgear web site. Sometimes sites like that have programs you can download that will properly configure everything for you automatically.

You may have to define a password for wireless and type it in your laptop.
To do that you use your router's ip to access the admin page.
After defining the password there use the wireless network setup wizard:
start / settings / control panel /setup a wireless network
Sometimes you just have to restart
Hope it helps
Cheers

i think you must check you ip address.
check whether DHCP is enabled in the router. and also the TCP/IP settings on the ethernet adapter should be set for getting ip automatically. i think this will solve your problem.
