The distinguishable prints are unique, as we know ,I just want to know how is it that they are as they are
and
are some prints nearly identical ?

How I don't know why but, the reason finger prints and foot prints develop in the womb is that the skin is an organ. Actually the biggest organ in the body and the ridges and valleys of finger and footprints are vestigial characteristics from our primate ancestors. Imagine how difficult if would be to lift and pick anything up that had a shear and smooth texture.
