Hispanics make a huge difference in society and the economy. I think it is important to remember that not all Hispanics are illegals, and not all illegals are Hispanic. It is also important to realize that most illegals are not employed as "strawberry pickers and toilet cleaners" as Steve C and the pro-illegal lobby would have you believe. Rather, they depress wages and take jobs away from Americans and legal immigrants in the construction industry and manufacturing, more like what Amanda alluded to. Most of these jobs are quite lucrative.
The illegal immigration problem in this country did not occur over night. It was decades in the making. Likewise the solution will not occur over night. However, after the "day without immigrants" fiasco, mainstream America was brought into the fray and that was a very bad thing for illegals. They have done a great disservice to their fellow country men.
Those Hispanics really made a difference!

All illegals make a difference, race is not important. We hear a lot about Hispanics because they are so close to our lower borders, yet we hear nothing of the rest of the sneakier illegals of other races.

Illegals not only take the jobs of American born people, but they take the jobs of everyone who came to the US by using the legal channels and many of those people are Hispanics also.

Illegals clog up our welfare and other systems. They are problems and I do not know what the answer is. When I worked on the border it was hard to believe how they would smuggle themselves into the US, sometimes costing millions of dollars and yet if they had gone through the proper channels they would have saved thousands.

They hurt the U.S. but no one will do any thing about it because the big dogs would rather do it this way instead of giving billions more to Mexico in finical aid.To the U.S. Gov. letting the illegals overrun the the States is like giving finical aid to Mexico only this form of $ aid is going directly to the people instead of to the corrupt Mex. Government.Giving out $ aid in this round about way is depressing the U.S. wage scale by 8%.

Here in New Orleans, they are doing a great service because otherwise you couldn't get anything done without waiting four to six months. I can also promise you they aren't taking sub standard wages either. They'll jump out your truck if you offer anything less than $10 an hour!

Who is really illegal? If someone takes away your house, kills your dad, have children with your mom and tell you get out of my neighborhood because they said it is right because they are superior and kick out any children you have out who is correct, or make slaves out of the children your mom bear.
What we have to learn is all work together, there are jobs that I cannot get because of identity theft, does that give me the right to go steal, where am I going to get the money to get my record clear.

I have no problem with them coming here to work. Often times they are doing jobs most of us aren't willing to do anyway. They are very hard working and their situation is bad in Mexico, and i can respect that. What I have a problem with is them not paying taxes. By all means, work here, take advantage of the wonderful social programs we have here, but please pay your share! It's only fair.
